Vivo planning to Introduce 5G Smartphones Within the period of Two Years

Vivo has recently announced it’s partnership with China Mobile on the “China Mobile 5G Device Forerunner Initiative” during GTI Summit 2018 at mobile world congress 2018.

Joining the endeavors of mobile industry players including Vivo, the program will accelerate the improvement of next-generation 5G gadgets. The program intends to launch the first ever batch of 5G pre- commercial devices for scale-up trial application showcase, in addition to set up support for the improvement of 5G gadgets, chipsets and other supply chains components.

Shi Yujian, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Vivo went to the summit and joined discussions on the most recent R&D of 5G gadgets with industry pioneers from other partner companies.

The “China Mobile 5G Device Forerunner Initiative”, led by China Mobile, unites more than 20 of the business’ most compelling and skilled chipset makers, segment makers and end-solution providers, framing a solid industry biological community for 5G development.

Vivo Outlines 5G Devices Commercialization

5G networks will deliver higher speeds, bring down inactivity and more transfer speed than previously. As applications of these key highlights in mobile communications widen, 5G gadgets will go up on different forms. While AR/VR and wearables keep on evolving, 5G cell phones will continue to be the core platform for mobile users due to the unmatched userbase size.

Long-term Commitment to 5G Development

Vivo began its R&D into 5G not long after the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) shared their vision of 5G. Vivo set up its 5G Research Institute in Beijing in 2016 and within no time it became one of the biggest gadget suppliers at the 3GPP group to help create 5G advancements.

In the previous year, Vivo has initiated 5G antenna and frequency related advancement to further accelerate Vivo’s pace of 5G innovation. Vivo’s partnership with China Mobile on 5G began in 2016 with a joint solution that decreases power consumption of 5G gadgets. Vivo was likewise a key contributor to the China Mobile led GTI 5G Device Whitepaper and China Mobile 5G Technical Requirements for Large-Scale Field Trial.
