A video recently became viral on social media showing Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur shouting and abusing at female hostelers.
According to the some students of Minhaj University, there are no arrangements for sehri at Minhaj ul Quran hostel during the Holy month of Ramadan. The students brought their demands while protesting for proper arrangements for sehri.
At their demands, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur starts shouting and threatening the students, warning “You don’t know who I am”. He also asked the management to write the name of each student who are protesting and call their parents.
The PAT secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said ‘ shut up’ several times and asked the students whether their parents had taught them manners or not. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur also threatened one student by saying that, “You will either tell me the name of girl who was speaking to you or go home tonight.”
When asked Khurram Nawaz Gandapur for these comments, he explained that some of the university girls insisted on going out after sunset which is a clear violation of hostel rules.” Every student has given it in writing that they will not go out of the hostel after sunset without the family members or male escort.”
He added these girls mishandled the hostel staff and created disturbance before he was recalled to solve the problem. “At first, I requested politely and asked them to tell their problem one by one but they didn’t listen at all. We have a strict policy in our hostel and it is our priority to ensure the security of these girls.”
The PAT leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that disciplinary action will be taken against the students who violated rules. He suggested “If someone wants to go out after sunset they can ask their parents to shift them to any other hostel where such actions are allowed.”
