People of Karachi were mesmerized by the superlative performances of the famous Sufi rock band Junoon on 25 December. At the concert that was organized to commemorate the 142nd birth anniversary of Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the crowd that gathered in thousands was treated to some melodious songs by the members of Junoon. The event was organized by Peak Freans Sooper and it turned out to be a roaring success.
It was an evening to remember for a long time as the frenzied crowds sang along with the band members and kept asking for more. The evening reminded people of the bygone era when such concerts were the order of the day. Sooper Junoon Concert is expected to give a big boost to the trend of live concerts and performances across the country in near future.
It was a starry night for the crazy fans as celebrities like Wasim Akram and Zohaib Hassan were among the guests. There was a separate section called Ladies Only Pink Circle that was reserved for females. Elsewhere, one could see a sea of people of all ages who had come to witness the reunion of the stars of Junoon after a gap of 13 long years.
The host of the evening was the duo of Faizan Haque and DJ Faisal Baig. The opening performances were Lyari Underground, Khumaariyan, Tamasha, and Sounds of Kolachi. It was the turn of Junoon afterwards and the crowd went berserk with their opening performance. The band performed on its popular signs Khudi, Sayoonee, Saieen etc and then gave a soulful performance as a tribute to legendary Junaid Jamshed who passed away recently.
The evening came to a climax with a powerful and soulful performance of the band on the song Jazba Junoon. This act was made memorable with the help of brilliant fireworks.
Crazy fans are hoping that EBM, the company that makes Peek Freans, organizes more such events to enthrall the audiences.
