Wasiq Khan, a 19-year-old from Peshawar started selling the famous Peshawari chappal online in 2017. “When I thought of selling online, I could only think of the Peshawari chappal,” he said regarding his decision. The traditional shoes were already being manufactured at a shop Wasiq owns in the northern city and he wanted to deliver Peshawari chappals to the doorsteps of those Pakistanis who are unable to travel to the historic provincial capital.

Wasiq is one of the many sellers who have set up their online businesses on Daraz and helped the platform grow its fashion category. 

Seven years ago, Daraz was launched as a fashion retailer – an online gateway to the leading fashion brands in the country. Soon after, the online marketplace diversified its assortment and today boasts a catalog of over 7 million products spread out across 100+ categories. From mobile phones to home appliances, groceries, and even vehicles – the platform has something to offer for everyone.

Over the past few months, however, the platform has been focusing a lot on strengthening its fashion channel, to bring customers an assortment of more than 2 million products sourced from local vendors and international brands. 

Today, Daraz is the sole platform that can connect sellers from different parts of the country to a growing customer base. For customers, the access is unparalleled as they’re able to browse through a larger assortment of products from the comfort of their own homes. 

In addition to increasing customers’ access to local goods, Daraz has also partnered up with international fashion brands to bring customers access to western trends. The platform has an assortment of 2 million products sourced from international vendors that are parked under the Global Collections feature on the Daraz app. Recently, Chinese fashion brand Zanzea started listing its apparel on the platform, offering a range of low-price, high-quality products. Zanzea caters to customers the world over, has an extensive understanding of global fashion trends and produces good quality products at lower prices. 

While primarily, an online retailer, Daraz has also started manufacturing its own clothes under the label of “Daraz Select”. The platform produces everyday clothes such as t-shirts that people have a regular demand for and aims to provide good quality clothing to locals at exceptionally low prices. 

In less than a decade, Daraz has come to boast a large and diverse assortment. As it revives the fashion category, the platform has ensured that customers have access to a variety of products – from traditional accessories to western trends and everyday wear.
